TOPIC: The Danger Of Ungodly Prosperity (Seeds Of Destiny 4 September 2021)

Ungodly prosperity invites both spiritual and physical leprosy.

SCRIPTURE: The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow. 2 Kings 5:27.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Ungodly prosperity invites both spiritual and physical leprosy.

The Scripture makes it clear that no one can serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). No one can serve God and money. It is important to know that money seeks to be worshipped the way God should be worshipped.

In our study today, we shall look at an example of a person in Scripture who was negatively affected by taking money that was not given to him, and that is:

GEHAZI

In the Book of 2 Kings Chapter 5, we understand that Naaman the Syrian was a leper. He was cleansed by the prophetic anointing of the prophet Elisha, and thereafter, he offered money to Prophet Elisha. But Elisha refused to collect the money because no genuine prophet would receive money in exchange for a miracle.

However, Gehazi, the prophet’s servant ran after Naaman and collected the money. Unknown to Gehazi, his master, Prophet Elisha got wind of all that transpired through the Spirit. So, Elisha told Gehazi:

Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow. 2 Kings 5:26-27.

This clearly indicates that anybody looking for Naaman’s prosperity should be prepared for Naaman’s leprosy. Meaning, ungodly prosperity invites both spiritual and physical leprosy. You cannot have Naaman’s prosperity and not have Naaman’s leprosy.

Beloved, my counsel is: refuse to take what God has not given you. Be contented with what you have per time and look for legal and godly ways of making money.

Remember this: Ungodly prosperity invites both spiritual and physical leprosy.

Refuse to be like Gehazi. Do not covet what does not belong to you.
Be contented with what you have per time.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the grace to be contented with what I have. Deliver me from the spirit of covetousness, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
