Police yesterday confirmed the death of 14 persons in an auto crash in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Spokesman Lawan Shiisu said the accident occurred on Monday on Ringim-Kano Road, adding that eight commuters were injured.
He said the crash involved two Golf cars which had a head-on collision.
“The accident occurred at Kwanar Gerawa and both vehicles were carrying passengers. Fourteen passengers, comprising seven males and seven females lost their lives,” Shiisu said.
The eight injured passengers were receiving treatment at General Hospital, Ringim, he said.
Three persons including a police officer were feared dead in an accident that occurred in Rivers State.
It was gathered that a bus carrying petroleum products collided with another and burst into flames, burning some of the travellers.
Sources said the incident occurred within Elele Alimini Community, Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesman Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident, but said he had no details.
